Training

ARES members should obtain both FEMA and ARRL training.

FEMA courses cover the Incident Command System (ICS) and the National Incident Management System (NIMS).  This training is offered by the Federal Emergency Management Agency Emergency Management – Independent Study Program (FEMA EMI ISP). These self-paced courses are designed for people who have emergency management responsibilities and are offered free-of-charge to those who qualify for enrollment.

The ARRL Introduction to EmComm Course is more in-depth and includes an instructor you will interact with online.
